About Narconon Hawaii
Narconon comes from non-narcosis, or “No-Drugs.
Drug addiction is a hellish problem. It destroys individual and families. It corrupts communities. None of us are free from its effects. Many of us have watched it consume someone we love.
How Narconon Began

William Benitez
William Benitez, an inmate of Arizona State Prison, founded the Narconon program in 1966 after he read a book by American author L. Ron Hubbard. By applying the principles contained in the book on increasing one’s abilities, he and dozens of other inmates were able to permanently end their addiction to heroin.
The Narconon program has evolved from that simple beginning to a worldwide network of drug prevention and drug-free social education rehabilitation centers.
“You may have noticed that society is rapidly going downhill… And the most serious part of this is that drugs, both medical and street drugs, have disabled a majority of those who could have handled it, including the political leaders, and have even paralyzed the coming generations.”
L. Ron Hubbard*
In 1972 the program was made available to the public with the opening of the first street program in Los Angeles.
Our Addiction Treatment Program
When someone you care about is addicted to alcohol or drugs, finding an effective addiction treatment program becomes all important. Unfortunately many programs don’t deliver the goods. And there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your loved one go through rehab only to start taking drugs once again.
Our program can be done in several ways:
Results
According to one study by the National Institute of Drug Abuse, a majority of patients treated for heroin or heavy cocaine addiction were using drugs again at least once a week within a year after they finished treatment.
These findings are, unfortunately, typical of most rehabilitation methods.
Narconon results have been documented by independent social research groups:
- A Spanish study done by Tecnicos Asociados de Investigacion y Marketing showed that 70% of Narconon graduates stayed off drugs
- An American study reported that 86% of Narconon clients were still off drugs two years after they completed the program
Get Free of Addiction
Narconon graduates are not left with a craving for drugs or alcohol that they have to fight, or overcome, one day at a time. They don’t need medication for depression. They’re confident, in control and able to achieve their goals without the use of any drugs.
For millions of individuals personally caught in the trap of drug addiction and abuse, and the millions of others who are also directly or indirectly affected, the Narconon program provides a real and workable route back to a life free from drugs.
