What is Drug Addiction?

When you take a drug it releases substances called dopamine and serotonin in the brain in what is called the ‘reward circuit’ and you get a feeling of euphoria (intense happiness and well being) That means you get high.

You may get hooked emotionally and psychologically. You may have a physical dependence on the drug, too.  Drug addiction causes intense cravings for the drug, even though the feeling of euphoria is not as intense as it once was and sometimes you have a bad trip, where you experience intensely frightening feelings.

You want to use the drug again and again. You’ll have decreased responses to everyday things, such as food, sex, and social interaction. When you stop taking it, you may have unpleasant physical reactions and start to feel very anxious.

Drug addiction involves compulsively seeking to use a substance, regardless of the potentially negative social, psychological and physical consequences.

There are many different drug addiction treatment programs, but few have the success rate of the Narconon program.  And Narconon Hawaii offers you the best treatment program in a fantastic setting – the magical island of Oahu.
